I have a 2000 toyota solara and the front grill chrome is peeling off. This is a common problem with solara`s of that year. My question is what can i use to strip off the remaining chrome and not damage the matte plastic underneath which does not look all that bad? I do not want to sand it off and damage the black plastic. I plan on just leaving the matte black plastic as is after i remove the chrome. thanks

Try this: Remove the grille, soak it in water(to loosen the bonding of the chrome to the base), peel by hand/use compressed air/powerwash.

It *may* loosen up the bond of the chrome to the plastic.
