View Full Version : Menzerna Final Polish II -- Proper RPM/OPM?

To remove light swirling, I am planning to use Menzerna Final Polish II (FP2) on my brand-new black Prius, after washing with Dawn and claying.

The instructions on the bottle call for application at 1,000 - 1,200 RPM. The Griot`s Garage 6" random orbital polisher I bought specifically for this task has a range of 2,500 - 6,800 orbits per minute (OPM).

I`m not sure how RPM compares or translates to OPM. (1) Are they equivalent? (2) If not, how do they compare? (3) If so, in the group`s collective wisdom, would using the lowest possible setting on the polisher cause harm to the paint when used with FP2?

I did check to see whether this question has been addressed and I found no information, so please withhold flames.

Many thanks.

UPDATE: Griot`s Garage customer service just told me there is no direct way to compare RPM to OPM and advised using settings 3-4 on its polisher.
