The rear Sway bar links on my Porsche 964 are pretty nasty. The gold anodized plating comes off really easy. What is the best way to clean these to make them look new?

with the plating coming off, i would opt to do one of two things.

1. powder coat and re-install

2. search for billet aftermarket end links.

With the overall size of the links, you would likely be best off to find an aftermarket supplier. The bar between the two links is quite small and is likely prone to flex. A heavier / thicker / stronger link would be stronger.

When a metal has a coating like this, and the coating flakes, it`s a lost cause. Even if you choose to spray with a rattle can, expect to be required to remove an re-paint them each season.

hope it helps!

Looking to keep the car stock.

Unless the links are aluminum they are probably cad plated. So either replate/anodize or use one of the many rattle can options that look like cad plating or anodizing.

I`ve had good luck with sanding them down with 800 grit then 1000 then

a good metal polish, I use Mothers, then a good clear coat, I use Plasti-coat

Hi temp clear. Or.... buy new ones ! They look alot like the ones on my 89 911
