Opinions on newer model toyota paint

I`m looking to purchase a new toyota truck and would like opinions on paint on these vehicles, and if color has an influence. I`m interested in toyota because of my experience with a couple of other toyota products, which were mechanically very well made. My concern is that the paint may not be the best. My 98 4runner showed clear coat failure after ten years on the hood. It was a dark color, so I`m thinking this was brought on by heat and a light color might fare better. Any thoughts? TIA
