I need to polish the headlights on my Scorpio. They are typical 16 year old ford plastic and are yellowed and fogged over.

The last set I did was on my XR and it was a royal pain. I used about 4 grades of sandpaper and finished off with a buffer wheel and jewlers rouge.

I`ve looked at a couple of kits. One is from a company called Lens Renew (http://www.lensrenew.com/auto_detailing_supplies.htm).

The other is from one of the sponsors here. Wolfgang Lens Cleaning System (http://www.wolfgangcarcare.com/plastik-lens-cleaning.html)

Has anyone here used one of these, or anything similar? I am NOT going to do the same process as I did last time.

have you just tried meguiars plastic x? My favorite cheap resto process was turtle wax color back compound, did an amazing job and cleaning up lights.

Maybe I should clarify just how bad these headlights are:

This picture actually makes them look better than they are.

Wetsanding them should do the trick. If you already have some why not use it instead of wasting money on something else.

I attatched some pics of a set i did awile back. not as bad as what you`ll be working with but the process is the same.

I used 1000 and 2000 grit and then polished the sanding marks out.

The after pic is not that great, in person though them lights are crystal clear.

Alot of times when headlights are yellowed, they are also yellowed from the inside. So you might need to open them up to FULLY get the yellow sanded out.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I used Meguiars Scratch X with a buffing pad on a drill. Used a low speed.

Just the drivers side is done in the picture. It actually looks better than the picture shows, the camera actually caught reflection that makes it look a little white.
