I have a 2006 G35

and what I believe to be some sort of paint on the wheels. I`ve tried claybar and it was in effective and grabbed my wife`s nail polish remover and it seemed to work on the test spot. Just didn`t know before doing the entire thing if this would be a safe way to go or if I would be doing damage to the clearcoat by using acetone/scrubbing?

On powder-coated OE and aftermarket rims, acetone/NPR is harmless to the finish. I`ve used it many times to remove paint patches on rims.

100% OK.

1. Ensure rims are cool.

2. Wipe with wet cloth immediately and don`t leave any acetone residue behind. After a few swipes with acetone, I immediately wash with shampoo and water.

Here are two pictures of what the wheels look like. On the outer edge is where the paint is. Looking at the pictures it looks like paint overspray from where my car was worked on.

Guess I`ll go pick up a bottle of acetone from walmart and give it a try.
