For anyone using the 3M hookit 2 sanding discs or foam pads, they have been discontinued. The new replacement is just called Hookit. Some of the suppliers are calling the new product Hookit 1.

If you will contact your 3M rep, he will provide you with new backing plates and interface pads for your tools at no charge. Since the new backing plate will not fit the old Hookit 2 discs or foam pads, you will need an conversion pad between the backing plate and the Hookit 2 stuff until you use up your Hookit 2.

When the original Hookit came out, the velcro was very weak. They then introduced the Hook 2 (Hook ll) with a better hook and loop. To further improve the product they when with a super grade of hoop and loop (velco) but they had to switch the loop location to the hook and the hook location to the loop for a better grip. The new Hookit is excellent, no wasted discs.

The only down side is that you must use a converter pad until your old Hookit 2 disc are used up. The converter pad works very well, but you almost need a screwdriver to seperate the velco when you want to remove it to use the new Hookit disc. Not a big deal, but something to know. It will slow you down if you are changing from Hookit 2 to Hookit on the same job with the same tool. I just rigged up two tools until I`m out of the old disks, one set up for Hookit 2 and another set up for Hookit.
