I am a total noob at auto paint and I was wondering if anybody got any ideas or suggestions on methods or specific products that can help fix these blemishes like rubbing compound? touch up paint? or do I have no choice and get a respray?

I ran my finger over the blemishes and they do not feel like there is a deep scratch. It feels dull and rough compare to the rest of the panel like the clearcoat is gone.

I`m not an expert by any means, but since no one replied I`ll give my $0.02.

You need to buff that out with abrasives. I use the 3M swirl mark remover PN39009 and it gets most of the scratches I`ve had.

If that doesn`t work, you have to get more agressive (rubbing compound). There is a sticky in this forum that has a rating of the most aggressive to the least. Look at that and pick out one of the more aggressive polishes.

If polishing doesn`t work then I guess your clear coat is messed up and eatten thru. If thats the case, then repaint is your only option.

Good luck!

eric cartman- Welcome to Autopia!

As best I can tell from the pics, the first one shows damage through the clearcoat and the second shows some area where the paint might`ve been abraded away down to the metal (certainly to the primer). So they need paintwork.

Honestly, IMO you oughta have a pro fix those areas. While "spot-ins" aren`t generally advisable, I`ve had small areas like that fixed that way and been very happy with the results.

Trying to DIY it will, IMO, just result in frustration.
