Hi All,

My wife gets her new car soon and I want to get a coat of wax on it when she picks it up. I was wondering if I should just wash, clay then wax or should I add a polishing step in there. Any thoughts? Does the paint need to cure at all or are they all fully hardened by the time they`re delivered?

Thanks,

J.

PS I plan to use some Glanz I have left over from last year.

It really depends how crazy you are with the look of the car and what color the car is. The car WILL have swirl marks, but if you are getting a light colored car, it wont be that noticeable. The paint will be fully cured, so you dont need to worry about that. If you dont want to polish then you can get a glaze to cover up the swirls but they will come back in a few weeks.

Polish if it has marring you can`t live with.

Any thoughts?

I`d try to get it "in the wrapper", i.e., without the dealer having "prepped" it; they`ll mess up the paint, they always do.

Factory paint is fully hardened/cured by the time you get it (baked at very high temps).

That should work fine.

Wife just picked this up new.

I asked them not to touch it with any wax, dealer stated they just spray new cars with detailer, no wax, told them not even that, just wash and prep it.

Still had slight swirls, hard to see in white.

I gave it a coat of Blackfire, then waxed it a day later, looks great, I`ll wait a year, then maybe Clay and polish first.

Oh, Nice car BTW. Is the rogue or the Murano? Father in Law had the Murano back in 03 and it was a damn nice car. With the white you wont have much to worry about fortunately.

luckily for you the car`s white but yea...esp if it`s a new car never never never never let them touch the car except for maybe under the hood type checks--I`m telling my dealers to not even look at my car funny ... i don`t want them getting any funny ideas...
