2011 Shelby GT500 vs 2010 Camaro SS (Indy 500 Pace Car)

So I get a call about a "mustang" cobra (shelby gt 500), it`s a 2011 and the dealership wants to repaint it do to a few very minor water etching and some few dozen "dots" on the roof.



I`m like repaint? bring it too me first.



So I get the car, wash, clay entire car then wetsand one dime size area on the hood, buff out 2/3 of the hood, most of the roof and the trunk then seal it all with blackfire wet diamond.



All the damage came out with minimal efforts. Just goes to show you the ignorance of the dealerships.



No pics before or of the damage as it was extremely minor and hard to photograph but got the end results of course.



The car had never been clayed before and after claying basically all the "dots" on the roof were gone.



This is with 1200 miles on it after 1 1/2 months of ownership. And who says garage queen new cars don`t need to be clayed? ;)

So what did the dealer say?

Next up is a referral from Norm with Invisibra, he`s the best clear film installer in TX I`ve seen. He has a client with a 2010 camaro SS pace car getting most of the car wrapped with protective film.



The entire front end is wrapped along with the doors and a few underside panels.



So I clayed what I could and then sealed the paint with bfwd.

Also did the interior.

The dealer wanted to repaint the panels in question, which was basically the entire top side of the car all for a little water etching that easily buffed out and some bonded contamintion that came off with a simple pass of the clay....

exactly, it does look great without the stripes, the stripes (as you see on the camaro) are just way over done these days. I know on the pace car it`s a bit more of a tradition throw back to the old white and orange one.

yea i read that part, imeant what did they say when you returned it after being corrected? were they happy, surprised, ...???

Yes I do, I`m thinking of redoing the stripe though, something a bit more simple and stands out a little more.

2 for 1?? no these were separate clients, they each paid individually.



All I really know about the camaro pace car is obviously it`s a limited production model, but the logo`s are simple trademark stickers on each side and there`s special Indy 500 embroidery on the leather seats as well as unique leather color interior, sorry I didn`t take any pics. Wasn`t too overly impressed with the pace car as I think they should have done more to make it stand out better.

The owner brought me the car, not the dealer, but yes the owner was extremely happy, I told him to take it back to the dealer and have them cut me a check for the difference of the price to have it repainted. haha
