I thought I`d start a new thread rather than tacking on to the bottom of the Opti-coat thread - it`s already too much off-topic.

I bought this by accident a few years back and haven`t tried it yet. It`s application directions suggest it`s tricky, it claims a Moh of 6, it`s made in Japan, and it mentions glass in its description. I`m wondering if its a silane sealant.

There`s plenty of marketing BS, wild claims, misinformation (and attractive ladies) on its website but here it is:

Eagle Wax seem to be the US resellers of the Japanese product, hence the amateur advice.

That sounds more along the lines of glassplexin (Glare) to me. The real SIO2 stuff is brand new patented technology-based on an article that I read.

A mohs of 6 is pretty high. Quartz (silica) is 7. Then the hardest is diamond 10.

Paul, I visited this site a couple of years ago, but I don`t know its application method(s). It can be a coating; Japs are absolute fans of this technology. Anyway, a MOHS 6 LSP is definitely a good thing, no matter what`s the chemical backbone of it.

If you already have it, then go for it IMO!
