White or Orange

Hey guys, I`ve got a big job coming up, and will be wetsanding the entire vehicle with 2500 or 3k grit, not sure which yet.





I`m going to be using m105 with a maroon solo wool pad (suggested by a member on here) forgot exact name of pad.



Then I will follow up with m205, and for this he told me to use either white or orange LC foam pad. He also said both finish down almost the same. Which do you guys prefer? Different takes never hurt!

Depends how hard the paint is, but I`d recommend white for finishing on a rotary, maybe even grey

How does the black finish down? Does that cut at all?^

Wow, guys which LC pads should i use for my rotary? There`s all different types.

You need to have one of each pad an do a test panel on the hood of the car. It all depends on what car and what paint you are working with soft or hard. If you are wetsanding you will start with a LC Purple foamed wool pad to remove the 2000-3000 grit sandscratches. I would follow this with another pass of M105 on an Orange LC Pad. Then for the final stage I would try 205 on an a White LC polishing pad.



The LC Purple and Orange combo will work for the first step on a rotary 9 out of 10 times. You will just need to figure out if the White pad will elimate any holograms you may have since you are using a rotary. The key will be jeweling the paint during this last step. If the car is black you may even need to use a black or red finishing pad. While black and red have no cutting power the compound you are using does and essentially you are jeweling the paint not cutting it.

Measure your backing plate and buy the obviously corresponding pads (7" plate = 7.5" pads). If it`s that big you might want to rethink things; I prefer using 6-6.5" pads via rotary.



If you do use that maroon wool pad with M105, I sure wouldn`t expect to be able to switch to M205 right afterwards.

I myself would pick a different panel, just in case things don`t go as expected. Not saying I`ve never started testing on a hood, but that`s the last panel I`d want to accidentally mess up.
