Waxing in the heat

I`m in the Phoenix area, and it`s already HOT. It`s over 100 in the days, and right now I`m getting ready to wax it so that the sun doesn`t obliterate my paint. It`s still over 90 degrees past 9pm, and I was wondering if the heat is going to change how it bonds and hazes over?



I`m using Poorboys Natty Blue (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php?id=3101&url=detailedimage.com/Poorboys-World-M1/Nattys-Blue-Paste-Wax-P30/8-oz-S1/), but I also own CG 50/50 (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php?id=3101&url=detailedimage.com/Chemical-Guys-M31/5050-Limited-Series-Concourse-Paste-Wax-P185/16-oz-S1/) and Purple Haze (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php?id=3101&url=detailedimage.com/Dodo-Juice-M35/Purple-Haze-Soft-Wax-P237/250-ml-S1/). So if this makes a difference, please chime in?!?

It all depends on whether or not your car is sitting in the sun...what color is the car? It looks like (from your sig) that both your cars are black!!



A black car...on a 70 degree day...sitting in the sun...can easily have its surface temperature reach 135 degrees...you can buy an infrared temp gauge at Home Depot or Lowes to see the temp of your paint.



Carnauba melts at ~ 180 degrees F. Sooo...in Phoenix, in the summer, your paint temp is probably sitting around 200 degrees F or higher. The carnauba won`t fall off the paint...but it will be difficult to put on as it will dry too quickly...and it won`t last as long.



You could try FK1000P.

You can apply and remove Clearkote`s Carnauba Moose on black paint in the full sun on 100+ days. Just as easy to use as when it is 70 outside.

In my experience, a pure sealant or an AIO sealant product is more tolerant of hot paint. Natural Carnauba waxes tend to streak and flash too quickly. I have not used the product that Scott mentioned above though.

Prima Banana Gloss does not requite shade to be applied. Its quite useful for the mobile details I do without shade :)

I also live in scottsdale, I agree with Flawbolt. I have lived in Phx for 30 yrs and really struggled with Carnauba looking good when applied and hazing with the extreme temps. You can buff it right back again but the synthetic sealers hold up much better in the extreme heat.

I`m just about to purchase natty`s blue as I heard it does exceptionally well in full sun. What have your experiences been with that product?

I plan on putting a sealant on soon - the car is overdue for a deep cleaning (clay, maybe some polishing) but I wanted to get some protection on since the sun is getting bad.



Jay - I love Natty Blue, although I haven`t directly compared it to the two new ones. For the money, it`s got good gloss. The best results were when I put it over a sealant.
