View Full Version : Is it necessary to follow Z5 with Z2?

Is it ok to use Z5 as the final coat or it is better to top it with Z2? All things being equal, I`d rather use more coats of Z5 given its filling properties, than to do Z2. However, I guess there must be some benefit to Z2 as a final layer.

I just finished a car with 2 coats of Z5. It looks great, but trying to determine if I should add a layer of Z2. I am interested in both durability and shine. Whether or not I do a layer of Z2, I will probably will do CS as final layer followed by Z8.

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I couldn`t find it via search.

What color is the paint?

Z5pro usually looks better on dark colors and Z2pro on lighter colors.

I always follow CS with Z8.

Good to know. I`ve always used Z2 on top of Z5.

Z5pro can be used as a standalone but I almost always end up topping it with Z8.

Agreed -- I am going to top the Z5 with Z8, let it sit for a day or so, and then top that with CS, then wait a day and top with Z8 again. This car will be in the garage for a few days so I have luxury of being able to let it sit between final layers.

CS i feel is a "useless" product. It doesnt have the durability of Z2 or the sparkle of Z8.

Dont mean to pick on u, i have it too :)

I always want to learn -- so happy to hear both good and bad about techniques/products I`m using. I`ve had pretty good experience with CS. I`ve been using it for a long time but still haven`t mastered the technique to not leave any cloudiness, so it doesn`t look right until I follow it a few hours later with Z6, then I top with Z8.

I put 2 layers of CS - Z8 - CS -Z8 on my rarely driven/always garaged car and it added a bit of depth and shine.

CS has it`s own charactaristics. It isn`t as blingy as Z2pro but I recently put it over

ZAIO on red and that combo had amazing depth and richness.
