You can`t go wrong with 3M.

is it the spray can stuff though? what effects would that have on future removal?

the reason I ask is from the factory, its like a rubbery glue, but the 3m spray seems like its like super glue and the paint will come off...

I just replaced emblems on a car on Monday. I use this: 3M? Plastic and Emblem Adhesive, 08061, 5 oz Tube, 6 per case (http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Car/Care/Products/Product-Catalog/Pages/?nid=ZNX5WTL9PMgsMDCVJW7L8SglFG3R3KZ8H0bl)

Actually mine looks a little different b/c it`s older but is the same product.

This is pretty much what all the bodyshops use. Good stuff and can make for easy removal down the road if needed.

David - your tube is probably black/yellow/white?

Yeah, that`s the stuff. I really like it for what you mentioned (removing it later). I really dislike having to remove the foam backed emblems due to the process for removal. But the 3M adhesive is easily separate with some floss and solvent/adhesive removal.

Why not use 3m double sided foam tape? thats how the emblems are originally put on. We use an assortment of this stuff at the bodyshop i work at:

Product Catalog 3M US truck trucks suv suvs sport utility vehicle vehicles accessory accessories attach attaches stick sticks hold holds glue glues acrylic foam foams tape tapes two side sides double seal seals weather products number numbers data sh (http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Auto-Accessory-Attachment/Home/Products/Catalog/?PC_7_RJH9U5230GGG002RHMQKTO1812_nid=GSWPGWXTH0beS 2Z15RR9ZVgl)

You`re one of the few Body Shops that actual clean & re-tape those things? Ouch, I feel for you.

Yes we are, but I`ve noticed it makes reinstallation cleaner and easier.. I`m just not a fan of the other stuff.

Will you guys try saving every emblem? Those thin BMW #`s are a pain in the butt.

With most newer cars the insurance company pays for a new emblem/molding, but with older cars or out of pocket jobs we try and save the emblems/moldings. With thin or smaller emblems we give them to my boss to retape...it gives him something to keep him occupied!:har:
