I haven`t posted a click/brag in well over a year so I`d thought I`d share just a few of the cars I`ve done this year. I`ll probably be doing a few different threads, but this will be a good starter.

This first car is a 2010 Porsche Turbo, I took delivery of it for my client along with his Panamera Turbo a few weeks later.

He made sure the dealership did not remove the plastic or touch anything other then the PDI they have to do.

Sorry if I lack pics but sometimes you can only take so many.

This was a few months ago.

2010 Carrera Turbo

500HP, AWD

0-60mph 2.9 sec with launch control

This one is fully loaded with nearly every option as you can see.

After removing the window stick, I went back and wiped it down with 3M Adhesive Remover to remover the left over adhesive.

When taking delivery of a car from the dealer sometimes it is easier to arrange to have it taken to your own shop, home or clients home as the dealer may find it difficult to make room for an "outsider" detailer to properly do there work.

I can`t even tell you how many dirty looks and glares I got from the mechanics and prep guys there.

Since they couldn`t make room for me (even though there were many open bays to spare all day long) I was forced to work outside the entire time. Fortunately it was very overcast.

So here`s the condition of the car before I get my hands on it.

Don`t be fooled into thinking taking delivery of a new car is an easy job, it is just the opposite, here you can see what is all over the car that I have to deal with, and of course I`ll have to inspect the paint to ensure no buffer trails left by the factory so we could be here all day....

Now to see what the cockpit looks like... not too bad compared to the rest.

Now to remove the pastic.

Inside is pretty simple, you just carefully un-piece the puzzle.

Some cars will tie the coverings over the seat with elastic ties that run threw the pivot joints of the seats and I`ve found that the only way to remove them is by cutting the elastic bands. However Porsche apparently does not use that method thankfully and the plastic easily lifts off the seats.

After removal of seat coverings and sticky plastics off door seals/jambs, lcd screen, and other parts.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y148/Joshvette/Detailing%202010/Pete%202010%20Porsche%20Turbo%20Delivery/DSC04744.jpg

It`s very important from here on out that any time I get in or out of the car I do not scuff the door seal, jambs or fingerprint anything I do not have to touch.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y148/Joshvette/Detailing%202010/Pete%202010%20Porsche%20Turbo%20Delivery/DSC04745.jpg

After the plasicts are removed I then dust, vacuum and wipe down any parts that need it with 303 Aerospace.

Now that the interior is up to speed, time to work on the exterior.

When removing plastic from panels I always go slow as the paint is fresh and young and in the back of my mind I worry if a portion is not properly prepped can some paint come off with the plastic?? I don`t think so but you never know so I take it cautiously.

It`s probably a smarter idea to do the top surfaces first and leave the plastic on the sides for last so just in case you rub up against it with your clothing you`re a little more protected, but I just did it in the order I felt.... oh well.

After the plastic is removed, it is imperative that the car be thoroughly wash, clayed and paint inspected for any defects.

And since I`m at the unfriendly dealership I really could not photo the rest of the process, I`m sorry but this is what I have.

$164k for a 911 turbo.. wow, thought they were like 110k.

Well, if you look at the sticker, the turbo model itself is only $132K but with all the options he requested, it goes up, Carbon Ceramic brakes, center knock offs, special everything inside out from leather stitching to radio upgrades and such.... its` just a lot of little things they charge you for that add up.

Now that the car has been thoroughly wash, clayed and dried, I move onto inspecting the paint for any defects of which I found quite a few but couldn`t get pics off due to cloud cover and dealer pressure to get done and get out...

The issues were mainly in the rear bumper as you`ll see and then a little on the doors, fuel door and that`s about it, they were all hazy and hologram`d from the factory.

I had to finish and come back another day to my clients storage to finish the correction and protection.

Here`s a couple pics of the damages I found.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y148/Joshvette/Detailing%202010/Pete%202010%20Porsche%20Turbo%20Delivery/DSC04760.jpg

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y148/Joshvette/Detailing%202010/Pete%202010%20Porsche%20Turbo%20Delivery/DSC04761.jpg

After a quick zap with the rotary, white pad, Menz SIP, then finish down with a black pad and Menz FPII the car was perfect.

After which I threw on a couple coats of Zaino Z5

Sorry to disappoint but I accidently deleted the rest of the pics so I`ll have to update in a couple months or whenever I go back to redo the car.... my bad.:doh:bawling:

But I have a ton of cars to update so only like 500 more pics to post....:rofl

those cars are quick!

i seen one in the bigs mags and it kicked the zr1`s *** by like a half of second in the quarter.

i think it ran like a 11 flat! just one mod or even just unbolting the seats a removing the spare and jack it could hit 10`s thats just crazy and the oem power levels have gone up so much.

A few weeks later I am to do the same for the new Porsche Panamera Turbo he just had delivered.

He flew to Euro, toured the Porsche plant, test drove a few Panamera on the Autobahn of course, did a couple launches and then purchased his own, drove it around while on vacation up there and then had it delivered state side so it already had a few miles on it.

Since the car had already been purchased and driven no plastic was needed to be removed.

So here it is:

2010 Porsche Panamer Turbo

500HP Twin Turbo, AWD

0-60mph in 3.3-3.5 sec

my client did it in 3.4 sec with 3 grown adults in there....:faint:

Another very overcast day so pics suck...

of course they were kind enough to leave the window sticker in tact for the owner.

Kind of funny you mention that cause my client traded in his ZR1 and GTR to get these two Turbo`s....

One thing to remember.... LAUNCH CONTROL!!!

Kind of like cheating to me, but it does make it way faster so more power to them.

Could you imagine if the ZR1 was AWD with launch control? I`d bet it would smoke the new Turbo.

After washing, claying and drying the paint, I inspected it with my 500W halogens to see it`s condition.

after the wash

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y148/Joshvette/Detailing%202010/Pete%202010%20Panamera%20Turbo/DSC04920.jpg

There were light swirls marks all along the sides of the car and water spots on the top surfaces so I decided the whole car needed a good 1 step polishing.

Sorry I do not have in step process pics. I`m sure/hoping you have all seen swirls before and after and what it looks like to buff them out....:buffing::2thumbs:

My process was with the PC, orange pad, M105/SIP to get the correction. No need to finish down since I was only using an orbital machine and I also use a white pad with ZAIO and Z5 to seal it so that also does some refining of the paint to ensure no micro marring.

After polishing out the damage I sealed with white pad, ZAIO and then Z5.

The exhaust tips could not be fixed, their is salt etching all over them and the owner will have them replaced.

Some after pics.

Awesome Cars there Josh. I`m actually suprised to see the 25mpg`s there on a 500HP beast. Something you just don`t get everyday. Most domestics cut way back on the HP to get into those ranges.. Sadly it`s what killed off the new Camero Z28 that was supposed to come out next year.

One of my Houston clients replaced his 08 Turbo with a 2010 GT3.

He regularly tracks his cars so I never know what it will look like when I get there, but he`s pretty good about cleaning it afterward as well and always has me put extra protection on it for just that reason.

I only have after pics so I will post up a list of my process.

Interior:

Dust

Vacuum

303 Wipe down

Leather condition Zaino Z10

Window with Stoners Invisible glass

Door jambs with Z8 spray sealant

Exterior:

Three bucket wash system

Presoak foam

tires, rims, rim drums, wheel wells arches

wash and clay body

blow dry with leaf blower

QD wipe down

Inspection of paint (no polishing needed)

LSP with ZAIO white pad and Z5 topper

Tires with Megs Hyper Shine 2:1 ratio

Lots and lots of MF towels

Here`s some after pics for your viewing pleasure.

yea, it`s too bad about the Camaro, but in the case of these new Porsche`s, it`s really just a matter of playing with the tuning. With Turbo`s you have a lot of room to play and if you gear them right you can get a good launch and still have good highway economy.:2thumbs:

Well, page 2 is here so I`ll continue with the write up.

Next up is a Lotus ExigeS I did on the side after a full detail on a 66 Jag Etype. I will show the Jag later, it is gorgeous.

This was a very very basic job, just a simple wash/interior quicky.

So the usual three bucket wash, interior dusting, vacuuming, 303 wipe down.

Exterior washed, QD wipe down. Nothing fancy just a good cleaning.

Here are some afters as there`s really nothing to post about before other then another dirty car.:ignore

BTW, it is extremely tough to get in and out of this car due to the very tall door jambs.

Still more to come.... 993 Turbo fully restored. 22 hours on paint.

Ok, last one for today, maybe the next couple days I can post up the pics of the 66 Jag Etyp, Ferrari 575, 56 Corvette, a few AMG Mercedes, and a sweet 64 fully restored GTO I did a full 16 hour correction on.

Here`s a nice 96 993 Turbo one of my clients just bought and at first glance the paint looked great but after I washed and clayed it the truth was revealed. There were many RIDS, buffer trails, swirls and one panel was even repainted.

I did a quicky on the interior just to make it look nice since the outside was going to be perfect.

The owner requested I make it perfect since he just got it and wanted it in top shop for the up coming cars and coffee show here in Dallas.

Again, I did not take any before pics as I did not have intentions of doing a full write up of this car and have really just gotten away from doing write up and taking before pics cause I have so many.

The car was littered with RIDS, swirls and issues.

My basic process if I can remember it correctly was something like:

Three bucket wash system

Rims, Tires, Wells, drums...

Wash, clay, dry

QD wipe down

Paint inspection with 500W

Buffed the car with rotary, PFW pad, M105 to cut it heavy and quick to see what defect were left behind.

Sure enough there were lots of deep scratches everywhere.

I had to completely sand about 1/4 to 1/3 of the car in various area/panels with 2000 unigrit and 2500 unigrit paper.

After I was satisfied I had to again polish the sanding marks with with PFW pad and Menz Power Gloss 1 to 2 times to remove the sanding marks, then again over the entire car with PFW and M105. Yes I had to double harsh cut compound the car, it was that bad.

After the sanding marks are gone I could begin.

I went at it with the rotary, white pad and Menz SIP to remove the holograms and swirls left over from the harsh compounding I did previously.

Then to finish it off with a black pad and Menz FPII.

Rewash with dawn to remove any lubes and QD wipe down before LSP.

These pics are after a few coats of Zaino ZAIO and Z5 and I noticed a little bit of smudging on the surface which show up in the pics. Before pick up I rewiped it all down again to remove any traces of the sealant.

If you guys feel the need to call me out on that, that`s fine.

Here are the after pics.

Some sun shots to show the perfected paint. Wish I had the befores as this was a total of at least 22 hours on paint alone, but just too much to document.

Not the best angle, but it will have to do.

Porsche Turbo`s are infamous for there huge tails, the new ones are getting a little better, but these older ones are horribly huge.

I could not take a rotary to the entire tail so the inbetween ares were corrected with multiple steps and the PC with small pads and various products from 105, SIP and FPII and I think I achieved the results I was looking for.
