I put a coat of bfwd on my car two weeks ago and I think im gonna put another coat on it soon. How many layers is adequate with this stuff? Its not that hard to use so I dont mind putting on more layers.

Also, what would be a better maintenance product for after washes, fk425 or ocw? fk425 would be good because the bfwd attracts so much dust but ocw sounds so easy to add a layer of wax.

Has anybody tried any of these combos?

I personally like the CG Butterwet wax over BFWD. Another combo which I just tried today is the BFWD with Pinnacle Souveran over it. Here is a picture of my Acura TL with the BFWD topped with Pinnacle. I think there is some nice gloss to it considering it is a Pearl White.

that looks pretty good. But, im not ready to drop that much money on souveran. did you use the paste or liquid?

Just curious, why do you feel the need to top it? Are you unhappy with the look or the durability?

I am pretty happy with the looks but i dont know about the durability first hand yet. I have heard that topping it with a wax will enhance the looks quite a bit. I just wonder if a wax would just mute the looks of the bfwd in which case I would probably just use the fk425 which I hear repels dust and looks pretty good on a sealant.

I used the paste.

I guess for some added protection. I think the durability of it is pretty good. Averaging one "correct car wash" per week, I was getting about 4 months out of the BFWD. Topped with CG Butterwet wax, I was getting about an extra month. I am curious to see if I will get any longer durability topped with the Souveran.

As far as muting the finish, the only wax that I topped with the BFWD that actually muted it a bit was the DoDo Juice Double Wax. I did not see any muting with the Butterwet wax or with the Souveran.

Looks great on white. I have a white Honda (tafetta white). What would you recommend as a LSP for the highest gloss. I`ll be using Collinite 845 for durability.

anyone know the cure time on BFWD before adding a topper? 24/12/8 hours?

:nixweiss I tend to just use what I think looks best and apply it as needed. If a wax would make that much difference in the looks, I`d just use it instead. I like to keep it as simple as possible.

I`d use something like Optimum Car Wax since it is fast and easy.

keep it simple.... sounds like a good philosophy. i might try the fk425 solely for dust repelling abilities as a QD
