I`m just curious. I`m wondering what people use as far as car wash when trying to preserve a protectant on their car as well as the best car wash for removing any protection for starting the process over.

I typically use Adams wash but have no idea what product other than dish soap for removing wax/protection.

What do you guys use?

Thanks

I use CG Citrus Wash & Gloss (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php?id=5505&url=detailedimage.com/Chemical-Guys-M31/Citrus-Wash-Gloss-P178/16-oz-S1/) most of the time when stripping the paint.

For maintenance washes, Gold Class is great a great OTC product and can be found for good prices. I`ve tried a couple of washes with CG GlossWorkz (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php?id=5505&url=detailedimage.com/Chemical-Guys-M31/GlossWorkz-Paintwork-Cleanser-P446/16-oz-S1/) and I`m very impressed with it so far. Might be my new go-to maintenance shampoo.

I really like DP`s Auto Bath Shampoo. As far as a car wash shampoo that removes protection, I don`t think you will find any.

what ratio for a foam gun do you guys usually use for stripping and maintaining? I use 1oz:3oz (CG CWG: water), but i`m not sure if that`s effective enough. Suggestions?

For preserving wax, it is ONR hands down.

I don`t generally use the wash step to strip wax (that`s what polishing and claying does anyway), but NXT wash seemed hard on paint.

Scott, can ONR at a higher concentration strip/weaken LSPs?

I heard using ONR at higher concentrations as a wash would not add any more cleaning/emulsifying power than the recommended dilutions.

Since at higher concentrations ONR can be used as a QD and clay lube, I doubt it would be useful in striping LSPs.

Car washes don`t offer any real protection-some may be slicker than others and some may have some wax in them but the wax sure won`t last very long. For OTC, Kit car wash is very nice.

Rez, Meg`s #00 is a very "neutral" type of product, easy on the wax.

For stripping: Spray 9 cleaner (from Home Depot)

Griot`s Car Wash is gentle on LSPs; basically does *nothing* to KSG and is nice and gentle on the others I use as well.
