2002 100k miles 4.3 vortec.

it lost a little pressure, but not down to 0 where it siezed. thankfully!

Been calling around, i`ve got a line on one with 14k miles-that should be nice and fresh

Find a used, tested, guarenteed motor. Good thing is it really should not be that tough of a job on the S10 to swap them out. Throwing a rod is rare. Generally only occurs when the engine is over-revved. Even lack of oil generally causes bearing to fail and the motor to seize or knock. Change the motor mounts and other hard to get to wear items while you are in there.

looking @ a 14k mile engine for $1100. Hope to drop it in this weekend.

I bought the truck with 95k miles on it...i`m guessing the last owners weren`t very nice to it.

At least with $1100 and whatever the install is, you`ll be back on the road for a lot less than a year`s worth of car payments.

I agree with Scott and you will have a almost new motor!

+1, car payments suck (trust me I`ve done them, lol)

To think I was hacked off because one of my caliper slider pins was sticking and ate not only the outboard pad on the left side but also the rotor which meant my car was shaking any time I`d brake at freeway speeds. Taking into account my car has 172,250 miles on the original rotors, I went ahead and changed out both of them since rotors are only $35 for my car. I think pads and rotors together cost me $114 with tax and I had the job done in under an hour. I guess I got off easy.
