View Full Version : If ResistAll were free, would you get it?

Detailing folks seem to shy away from `permanent` paint-sealants like ResistAll (http://www.ctpc.com/Professional/chemical/sun_page.asp) and Matrix Micro Coatings (http://matrixmicrocoatings.usalocalmall.com/) for three reasons, all valid:

They`re cash-cows for car dealers.

They might be useless, and there`s little info on how or even if they work. (There`s a great Seinfeld episode where a dealer laughs about the undercoating option: `We don`t even know what it is!`)

They`re no substitute for a good waxing.

I`m with you.

They aren`t permanent.

I`m with you there, too. Nothing replaces the need for good car care.

But I`m still considering it because the insurance is so good. For $5 a month, the dealer will treat damage from bird poop, bugs, tree sap, etc, and that seems a good deal.

The only reason not to get it there is if the coating is actually bad for your car. `Useless,` I`m okay with. Same with `doesn`t replace waxing,` and `not permanent.` All that describes insurance.

But `damages your car` would rule it out. Is this stuff safe to apply?
