Trashed Sapphire Black BMW Paint Correction by Unique Car Care!

This nearly brand new Sapphire Black BMW 328i was scheduled for an exterior detail / extensive paint correction. The car was brought in to the dealer to have the rear bumper repainted and somehow the car ended up in worse condition than when it was brought in.





It was clear that someone at the body shop had no clue what they were doing and did more harm than good. Excess polish and wax was left in just about every crack & crevice, not to mention all of the swirls and scratches that were left behind. In addition, there was overspray on each and every panel which needed to be removed.





The dealer called me and asked if I could help them out since the customer was supposed to pick up the car in less than two days. I told them to drop off the car as soon as possible so we could get working on it and have it back in time.





Getting right to work prepping the exterior…

Once the car was washed, all tires & wheels well cleaned and the paint was stripped free of all previous waxes or sealants from the body shop, it was time to give the car a claybar treatment to remove any overspray before the polishing process.





The hood had the most overspray, which you can see in the picture below…

Ryan and I got right to work and fired up the buffers, but we weren’t able to take any during pictures, as we were in a huge rush to get this done in time.





We ended up polishing the complete exterior with 3M Extra Cut Compound using a cyan Hydra-tech pad via rotary, followed by Menzerna Super Intensive Polish using a tangerine Hydra-tech pad via rotary and finished off with Menzerna Power Finish using an orange 3M ripple foam pad via Porter Cable.





Alcohol wipedowns were performed between each polishing step to ensure no filling was taking place and the car was given a quick wash before the last polishing step to remove any product spatter from the cracks & crevices.All tires and wheel wells were dressed with Opti-bond tire dressing, all wheels were sealed with Opti-seal and the LSP of choice was Blackfire Wet Diamond.

I`m quite certain the dealer didn`t use a body shop. They normally don`t

On this particular car, the dealerships body shop did the work, but I know that 95% of the cars I usually see from dealers will have a mobil repair company do the work. As you can see in one of the pictures, the color match wasn`t the greatest...

The work is perfect obviously, but what is more stunning is the condition of the paint in the befores. How in the hell do you do that type of damage to a new car? Please do show that stealership these photos. Unbelievable.
