When I let the dogs out at midnight, it looked as bright as dusk....i was like WTF?! Then I looked up and nearly shat myself. Never saw the moon do this before. it`s called a "moonbow" like a rainbow. I couldn`t get the camera to focus for ****, but it gives you an idea...

Wow, that`s a wicked picture! I`m sure someone will probably blame that one on global warming or something :).

It just means a storm is coming. I`ve seen it a good number of times.

Yep, I`ve heard it said that means snow is coming. Supposedly that`s light reflecting off of/refracting through ice crystals as they are starting to grow. I`ve seen it a good bit.

Its either ice or moisture........And its actually called a circular halo. "Moonbows" occur here on the earths surface, much like a rainbow would, only the moons light is what creates it and not the sun.

(Im an astronomy freak)

that`s because I had to take such a long exposure, so the moon turned into a bright white blur.

My wife and I went last night and also saw a ring around the moon down here in south Florida. It looked kind of strange.

I saw it here in Blacksburg, and we had a pretty decent rain storm the next day
