We had a snow storm on Monday, followed by 3 days of below freezing weather.
Friday was better…… we got another 5 inches of snow and some freezing rain for good measure.
Am I complaining?
This afternoon warmed up to 38, so we took full advantage of things.
I helped my neighbor wash his MDX, and somehow it found its way to my garage.
Process used:
Wash: Latex gloves (LOL). –They really do keep your hands warm as long as you put them on before you get your hands wet!
Optimum Car Wash
Optimum QEW (mixed with the wash) –A 32oz. QEW mix was misted on the paint to help break down the winter goo.
Tires: Optimum APC
Wheels/Wells: Optimum APC 6:1 x 2
Wells/Tires: Dressed with Poorboys NL
Interior Trim –It got the last of my Poorboys ‘Leather Stuff’ sample.
Glass, paint, jams during the drying process = #425.
Ahhhh… all done. Nope.
It seems that the state of DE extracted ALL of the salt from the Atlantic Ocean to keep our highways safe. As a bonus, I think we have a new chemical on the roads this year because it pitted the he** out of his paint. My neighbor has an 04 MDX that is VERY well taken care of, so the paint pitting/staining wasn’t out of neglect.
To correct this dilemma:
First stop shopping…. AIO and a finish pad on the PC. –No Luck.
Next Up… AIO and a polish pad on the PC. – he, he. -No luck, but it did help.
Under door #3… Cyclo, polish pad and AIO. Bye bye pit marks.
The hood must have cooked in the sun, b/c it was a mess. I tried the above, but it didn’t do much to improve things..
I broke out the Metabo and Optimum Hyper Compound. After 1 pass on ½ of the hood I switched to PG. Not that Optimum wasn’t working, but it was taking FOREVER. This might have been due to the cold/damp weather –I don’t know. PG made quick work of things. (I did not want to use something this abrasive.. but the pits and stains were deep)
Next up… P085RD on a finish pad @ 1000 (going SLOW).

Sorry about the lighting on the after shots. It’s cold as (fill in the blank) in the garage, and the ballast are dimming my lights due to the tropic weather. The gas heater is coming soon :)
