I am now on "information overload", and I have been bitten by the "detailing" bug, and I want to try sooo many products!! But my bank account says otherwise.... :help: so, I`ve narrowed it down to 2 products that I want to try to get a nice, wet look on both a dark colored car and a light colored car: s100 or Collinite 845. What do you think?

I`d go with the 845 and put *all* other efforts (mental, physical, and financial) into washing and prep.

Make it shine!

+1 845

845 is secodn to none when it comes to durability especially for teh winter months. But you will only get the best results with proper prep work, the best wax in the world will look like OTC stuff without prepping correctly.

I use 845 for the winter, but am not sure that it is the best "appearing" product, necessarily. Works fine for me, but other sealants are "brighter", I believe. However, it`s reputation for winter durability is well know. Use the Collinite for durability and great appearance at this time of year.

BTW, with good preparation, decent OTC products are just fine and look terrific. Have used Black Magic Wet Shine Liquid Car Wax (actually a synthetic sealant) with great results for a long time. I now use Optimum Opti-Seal......brilliant shine and extremely easy to use........

See ya. :wavey

Thanks all. This has been the easiest decision that I have made today. It`s great to have so many experts here to ask all my questions to. I really appreciate the autopia website!

Very different products. I use and love both products 845 for its durability and ease of use , S100 for it warm glow and ease of use on the red sports car. Wouldn`t be without either.

+1. I wouldn`t say these products products are comparable. They`re really at opposite ends of the spectrum.

I`d take 845 any day. In terms of looks 845 and S100 are very similar, with 845 having a wetter, "thicker" look IMO. Collinite also blows S100 out of the water durability wise.

Some say 476S is even more durable.

Hopefully I revisit this thread with some more insight. I did half of my hood with 476S and half with 845 IW

See how it works out. I *generally* get much better durability with 476S, but for some applications 845 keeps up with it. It`s kinda funny about 845, I get wildly varying durability in different applications and I`ve never figured out why :nixweiss

50/50 split on the hood of the 845 and 476 , and then this on the roof.

Applied different days on different surfaces with the same methods. Hopefully I can gather some observations soon.
