Awesome toy/tool!

How much does one of these run, and what does the average good citizen need to do to own/enjoy one without being tackled and jailed by the police?

Thanks for sharing :).

Mine was $468 out the door, I ordered it at the gun store and waited 3 months for it, I was going to get the pistol grip but that was going to be another 2-3 month wait, and the pistol grip was like 150 or so more, lastly I dont want to snap my wrist off when I shoot it.

That sounds like a great price, actually. Granted, I don`t really know anything about firearms, but I was expecting it to be closer to the $1K mark. Or maybe that`s just pistols nowadays...

Why such a long wait to receive your equipment? In order to get that price for it, was it necessary to get it through your local dealer? I`d be pulling hairs while waiting many months for such a toy . Same goes for the pistol grip. Tell us more!

Hey, Moe!

Yes, that would be "King of the Hill."

Enjoy! Though I don`t own a gun, I have plenty of friends who do, and I am always impressed with how passionate they are--every bit as much as I am with my new car.

Yea it`s a great price, It`s cheap for a few reasons, I got it on base and its not a semi, the price jumps when its a semi auto, granted some would argue that for a pump shotgun this is an asinine amount, but I wanted a mil-spec shotgun with a heavy barrel and metal trigger assembly. The only plastic on the firearm is the stock but it a polymer so its not breaking anytime soon. I was looking at a semi-auto Sagia 12 but I did some reading that the Sagia had problems cycling low-recoil or beanbag rounds so I ruled that one out. I also was looking at Remington, they are sweet guns but the overall ease of cleaning, the slide release position, and the safety position on the Mossberg made it my pick (the green berets use it too). The most I`ve paid for a plinker was my Glock 23 with night sights at $530ish out the door. It took so dang long cause the manufacture can`t keep up with the demand, after about a month of waiting I called the distributer which gave me no answers so I called Mossberg and they told me if I were to order the pistol grip 590A1 today I would not get it till December or January (this was back in July!) as the demand is so high for them. I ordered 2 shotguns at the same time; the Pistol grip 9 round and the non pistol grip. Turns out the slide release is a PITA with the pistol grip, that and I`ve read alot of 590 owners wishing they didn`t have the pistol grip or they converted it to the normal style. SO in the end Im happy with what I got and well up I want another one. :)

Devilsown- For the umpteeth time (yeah, I`m a broken record :o ), I`m *SO* glad you didn`t get a pistol-grip stock :xyxthumbs

I *do* like the Saigas (esp. the Saiga 20), but then I wouldn`t be running weird rounds. And hey, it`s a completely different sort of shotgun.

If I were shopping for an 870, I`d buy a beat-up older one, made in the days when the QC was better. For something new, that Mossberg was a great choice IMO.

This reminds me...as soon as hunting season closes there`ll probably be a scad of shotguns for sale really cheap.
