1. Spray wheels with acid
2. Spray engine w/ degreaser
2. Door jambs/trunk jams.. I just crack the hose a little bit and brush them down
3 Spray down wheels/engine
4. Wash car
5. Dry
6. Interior
7. Exterior
I always wash the wheels first thing. I don`t want brake dust and wheel acid and all that gunk going all over a fresh wash job.
1. Wash engine if doing engine
2. Wash wheels and wheel wells
3. Wash car
4. Dry car
5. Clean glass if needed after wash
6. Dress tires and trim
That`s my quick wash routine usually.

I APC the wheels engine and jambs first.
Go back over the wheels with acid if needed still
Pre-rinse entire car.
Pull the matts out soak them with APC and let dwell
Pull out all rubber inserts and anything else that is removable and toss in the APC solution.
Wash paint first then wheels and wells Finish with powerwashing the matts out
Hang matts up to drip dry.
Clay
Wash again
Rinse
Dress engine
Dry off entire car including jambs
Start my actual inspection of the car.
That is basic prep work. before anything else is done.

I do the nastiest areas first. When there`s really bad [crap] in the wheelwells or undercarriage, or on the wheels, I don`t want it getting on any previously-cleaned areas.
I do the dressing (such that I do..) after my LSP; yeah, I know, others do it first to keep LSP from staining.
I do the glass last, with the rare occasional exception of some interior glass where dressing the surrounding materials seems smarter.
IMO it`s all about not having to redo a step by contaminating work that`s already been done once.

EXTERIOR process
-i soak the entire car first. that way, if any acid or other wheel cleaners splash on the paint, itll be s afer than it being on bare paint.
-clean wheels, tires, and wheel wells all at once.
-wash car
-clay car while its still wet, use lube IF needed
-dry car
-tape and prep for compounding
-compound/polish
-after correction and polishing is done, rewash car to remove splatter and dust.
-dry car with leave blower and MF towels
-wax car
-dress tires and rubber/plastics
-buff wax off
-DONE
