can coolant damage paint/clear coat... in the engine bay. had a little accident. thanks, i appreciate it.

ive neer had problems with coolant damaging my paint. but, i guess if it was hot coolant spewing from the radiator, it may be a different story.

Coolant should not damage the paint.

brake fluid and PAG oil (for the ac system) are the only automotive fluids that will really cause serious harm to paint that I know of.

Heh heh, yeah...brake fluid is a pretty effective paint-stripper :o

It seems to me back in the old days I had some hot coolant damage to my paint (boilover with the hood open).

Was that back in the days of ss paint? If so, it reminds me of how gas spills could *really* mess up ss lacquer, but nowadays such spills don`t phase b/c paint at all.
