Okay, last new thread for me tonight. :)

So, as previously mentioned, I am in the process of ordering a new car. Said new car has super funky plaid cloth seats. I know how to take care of leather, but I`m not really sure what to do about cloth. I take good care of my stuff, but I would like to have an extra layer of protection (and/or know that I would be able to clean it up) just in case something happens. What do you guys recommend?

Thanks,

Gary

If your a mechanic keep a towel on the seat. Protect the back portion also. I think seat covers are unsightly but if you have to then there is no alternative. Cloth cleans up pretty well and is real easy to keep clean with minimal effort. GOD LUCK with the new car!!! You dont mention what it is.... dont keep us in suspense. Ben

Dont eat in your car. Dont let kids play in it either. Take the other car to the beach.

Since he mentioned plaid seats, I`m willing to be that he`s buying a Volkswagen.

3M Scotch Gard will help give your upholstery repellency. They have one for upholstery which I use on my headliner, and one for carpets. Good stuff IMO.

I think its easier to care for compared to leather. If you get to the stain within a day or so, it all comes out. I have gotten out tar, pen ink, grease, etc. Scratch leather once and its done.

303 Fabric Protector works well.

Shampoo machine and Scotchguard heavy (3M a can is $6.00) every 4-5 months.

Costco sells a Bissill machine for $160.

I`m considering a Bissel. Does it do anything more than what I could do with a spray bottle and wet shop vacuum?

Yes it does it does floors (you might need that for the home)but the hand tool is great for the carpets and the cloth interior, get the bissel fluid and then 3M scotchguard. I like it and my interior is like the day I bought the car!!!(ALMOST)

I like the 303 version a little better. Use it on my carpets also.
