I saw that the UDM is on sale for $106, UDM (http://www.autopia-carcare.com/ultimate-detailing-machine-xp-porter-cable-7424-dual-action-random-orbit-car-polisher.html), how much better is this than the regular pc? I`ve got a pc that is about 5 years old, and I`d consider replacing it with the UDM if it is that much better, thoughts?

the new UDM is the same as the new PC7424XP (more power than the PC7424, G100, G110), the UDM just has the sticker on it...

But, how does the 7424XP compare to the original PC? Can you achieve better results with the XP or is there something it can do that the PC can`t?

More power, basically. Better designed chassis.

so is the UDM 1000 the same thing as the original porter cable 7424? A guy is selling one (udm1000 he calls it) locally and am wondering if I should snatch it up.

I had purchased a flex 3401 a couple months ago and ended up selling the thing. I tried doing one steps with orange compressor pad and optimum hyper compound on like speed 5 and couldn`t see any difference??? I figured I would probably be just fine with a pcxp and my rotaries (makita and dewalt).

Rotaties are good. But for a DA orbital the Flex is a quality machine. Easy to use.
