While trying to see if i could rectify a detailing on my truck that i paid for and dind`t like after it rained. I went to see if I could remove more of the swirls with my megs maroon cutting pad and ssr3. It worked and i followed that up with the polishing pad and ssr2.5 followed by ssr1. But the cutting pad lost its white velcro cloth.

Should I maybe crazy glue it back on and keep on truckin?

Or just by new pads, 1 cutting 2 polishings and 1 maybe 2 finishing.

I use the cutting on my f150 to get the scratches out if/when i go offroading. But i mostly use the polishing, hense why i need 2. I like to go ssr2.5 then 1 followed by pro polish on the finishing pad and wax by hand. But i`ve been thinking of getting one of fine finishing/last step pads for applying a glaze/wax.

But if i go with new pads will i have to get a new backing plate or will the megs 5" plate work on any pad larger then 6"?

`Shoe Goo` has been used to repair pads in the past. I suppose silicone sealer/adhesive would work too. It`s always a good idea to have extra pads around, I would order a few more if I were you.

Your backing plate should work with just about any pads you get. I`ve had issues with the backing coming off of Meguiar`s pads too. It usually happens when the pad gets a little too saturated with polish or if the backing plate gets wet. The friction from the pad and the polish create enough heat that it is transfered through to the backing and the glue melts. I`ve had luck with taking the pad off the polisher before the backing comes compeletely off and the glue will dry and rebond to the pad. I try to keep extra pads around just in case it falls apart. I always take my Edge 2000 pads and adapter with me just in case something happens when I am away from the garage and I need replacements in a hurry. There are a few pads I prefer more than the Edge2000 system, but it does work well if I`m in a jam.
