This is from the hood of an 08 vette w/ 5k miles.

Client bought it a few weeks ago, it has some water spots. so upon the recommendation of someone. He hires a "detailer" aka hack to try and get the water spots out of the hood.

Client was gone while this was being done.

When client returns a few hours later, he asks the hack *** are you doing? Hack claims he can fix it.

Client smells pot in his garage.

Hack denies that he is smoking pot.

Client tells him to get the F out!!!

Hack says he can fix everything.

Client says I am going to call the sheriff.

Hack leaves....

Best that the client can figure, this hack went at it with an air sander and 1500/2000 discs (He found them in the garage.) Then tries to polish it out.

Bret will be here at 8am. Wash, clay and then finally I get some use out of my Defelsko PosiTector 200 Series (Advanced.)

Some of the pigtails look very deep. Client is aware that it might not be fixable without removing too much clear coat.

This is the hood, but the front fenders and nose is like this too.

I feel bad for your client that they have to go through this. However the story does have some humor to it. It just goes to show that a HIGH hack is just as bad as a regular hack. :)

I am getting sick of the hacks in my area. There is only 2 detail shops in town and I don`t complain about the other shops work but there is about 5 guys working out of their garage hacking black cars very bad. Fixed a black Denali today that was swirled everywhere!!!! Fixed a Mercedes 2 weeks ago. Sometimes I don`t mind it because it pays well and I can fix it but it does take me usually a day and a half. The customers are usually very upset because they pay me 3-4 times to fix what the hack charged!!

I had an older Subaru at the shop, that a gentleman had repainted. When he first arrived at the shop he only wanted the interior done. While I was talking with him about the interior, got leather was checking out the paint job for sanding marks and stuff like that. Well once the areas of sanding marks were pointed out we noted them on his invoice and then he returned to the body shop to get them buffed out. Well this is what came back to the shop after the 30 day "wait period" that most body shops give.

Buffer trails (UUUGGGHHH) and plus the sanding marks were still there. So I felt bad that I had to give the bad news to the customer, but in the end the cutomer has to be happy, so we fixed it.

Geesh Bryan, you wern`t kidding... That is a shame that hacks claim to be pros and mess up cars like this. The sad part is that he off to another job to mess up another car.

They look like they should all come out, hopefully.

Goodluck!!!!!!!!!!!!

It never ends does it Bryan! I fixed a 2009 black CTS-V here a couple of weeks ago that the dealer got his hands on. Fortunately it had the same soft paint as on the new Z06 and was easily corrected. It looks like you have your hands full there...

Newer Vettes now have soft paint? Definitely a change from the past.

From our experience today, I`d say this one was on the hard clear side.

We stopped a little early so I could watch my Steelers win. :woot2:

Tomorrow I will give it a good wash and a few coats of zaino.

I`m pretty sure that the client will now sleep at night.

A big thanks to Bret for all his help. :bow

I`ve never seen a pic pick up the detail of the pig tails / RIDS like those above. You can actually see the depth to them. That`s some serious damage you were able to correct.
