Hello -

I just got a Saab 9-3 Aero. The guy I bought it from never cleaned the exhaust pipes. I have used Adams Metal Polish 1 and Metal Polish 2 on the outside and that did the trick. However, on the inside of the pipes, it is full of black exhaust that I tried to use a wheel brush on th clean off, but only a little came off. I do not want to use a SOS pad on the tips as they will likely scratch. Any products that will take this off?

Please advise and thanks for all of your help.

When you say the "inside", is this a polished inner portion of the tip? Or just the inside of the pipe? I would`t hesitate to use an SOS pad on the inside of the pipe. If you`re trying to clean the polished inside of the tip, a wheel brush probably isn`t going to get you the result you want, you`ll want to use those metal polishes on a cloth.

Once again, if you are trying to clean the inside of the pipe, it`s likely going to be rough and may have some rust, etc., so don`t expect perfection.

Menzerna Polishing Cream Metal Polish is excellant for exhaust tips. Inside It is like Setec said don`t be afraid of the SOS pad. The inside is not visable.

Thanks for the response -

It is the polished inner portion of the tip - I took a cloth with the Adams metal polish as well, and this hard to get off. Should I take a rubbing compound on it and then put the metal polish on it?

Thanks for your help

PPC crud remover takes that stuff of really well, Otherwise you could try some oven cleaner but be carefull, the stuff is full of lye with does horable things to skin and eyes.

I have had very good luck keeping my stainless steel tips looking clean with a little bit of #0000 steel wool. So far it hasn`t really scratched or dulled the finish at all, but every car is different I guess.
