like compared to an FK1000p or other`s .

I`ve bought into alot of hype here on certain products and granted everyones taste is different , just don`t want to waste the money for Prewax cleaner and IW845.

IMO no. Questionable durability and looks that were not to my liking.

Remeber if your getting Collinite prep product that its quite strong. I think its not recommend for dark clearcoats either (does it/can it bleach dark paint?).

I think it does, but it is short-lived in my experience.

I was detailing a Merlot Mica Miata the other weekend and my neighor was out watching me. After the SSR 2.5 finshing down well I went for the Collinite, doing the hood the neighor says to me, wow you can realy tell a difference, if a guy who doesnt know a single thing about detailing likes it...wow. I just bought two bottles (half through my first), one for my friend who used it on his car from my bottle and loved it and another for myself, i`ll be reaching for it alot!

I don`t think 845 has the "specific LSP wow factor" thing going on, but then I also don`t think it matters 99% of the time.

IMO 845 is a fairly bright, reflective wax. Similar in look to #16 and P21s. This falls off after a while and after a few washes 845 usually looks the same as 476S, which is to say, like any other decent wax but nothing special. It doesn`t, IMO, have any special signature look.

No, that`s not inteneded as a slam ;)

I always see it as slightly wetter looking than 476 or FK stuff. Nothing to rave about but as nice as other waxes. I find it lasts well - would rate it as one of the more durable products. Not quite like FK1000 but pretty good.

Three high end detailing garages uses it in my area since I first introduce them to it 5 years ago, they threw out everything else afterwards ! ...any questions ?

How do you prep for IW845 . I see I cant use the cleaner wax for my car prior to 845.

the durability is a little overstated on here i think. but it is more durable than most other otc`s... i think it looks good too, nice and reflective.. beading lasts a while on flat surfaces (hood, roof, trunk) but on the sides of the car, it doesnt last well at all IME. i like the slickness, and the awesome beading, and currently have a bottle, and a half sitting in my "arsenal"

Why not? You can apply 845 over all sorts of stuff with no problems. I have used it over 1Z consumer-line polishes quite often and those aren`t all that different from cleaner wax.

If you`re worried about solvent action, just don`t apply the 845 really thick (shouldn`t do that anyhow), or in an aggressive manner.

I just recently did a detail on a mid nineties Taurus (Maroon). Clay/ Polish with Meg UC and then SwirlX. I finished with Collinite 845 and after if set up, the paint looks fantastic. I have been using it as an LSP for several years. I try different products all the time, but still go to 845 for durability.

I find it hard to find a logical reason to use other waxes/sealants. 845 looks great on a properly prepped surface. I think those that haven`t been really happy might not have had a good base to begin with?

Eh...I have all sorts of reasons why I usually reach for something else, but I do agree that Collinite seems somewhat sensitive to prep when it comes to looking its best.

I never did figure out why it just doesn`t last on the A8`s plastic bumper covers, but it just doesn`t :nixweiss
