View Full Version : Need help ASAP! Black TAR stuck on tires, Still Hot/Soft!

So I ran over a newly paved NYC street which there were no signs for and other cars were driving through. Turns out it wasn`t completely dry yet or something so basically I have this black sticky tar over most of my tires.

Its affecting my braking since I had to do a short stop a few times and ended up skidding each time. There is tar + debris stuck on top of it all over my tires. Its still hot and soft since I just got home from driving and I`m posting this up right away.

I got some on my hands and I had to use my nails to wash it off.

What should I do? Can I do something about it myself or should I go to a pro detailer or does this stuff eventually come off on its own?

Stoners Tarminator works well, any auto store should have it

Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover also works well, if Tarminator isn`t readily available for you. I like the Stoner products personally, and would go with that as first choice.

+1 for Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover. You can find it easily at any auto parts store!

If you let them cool, shouldn`t it just come off in time?

Not what you want to hear, but that will take quite some effort to get it out of the treads.

Good luck.
