Opinion needed for mark on paint..

I don`t think this is actually a detailing question, but I hope someone has some advice on what to do with this mark on my car.

It is located on the front driverside fender.



I covered the vehicle for winter, one car cover then one tarp, and wrapped with yellow rope (I looked EVERYWHERE local for nylon strap rope, no one had any)

It looks like the rope has worn through, or due to friction when windy..etc it has left a mark.



Is there anything I could do to minimize the appearance?

It looks like it is worn right through the paint, which appears to be fairly thin...



The looks OK everywhere else, haven`t had a chance to clean and really inspect anything so far..



What would you do?

BTW I wiped it with rubbing alcohol before taking photo.

That`s what I thought as well, but is there anything I can do to minimize the appearance.



ie. touch-up paint, sandpaper, rotary, random orbital....etc.

I have these things.



Was thinking about just trying my luck with some touch-up paint.

I know it will still be noticeable, but if I can cover the gray, then I`ll be happy.

It will look like a glob of paint, I`m sure after.

Then use machine to reduce the hazing surrounding the mark?



I`ve had pretty good success using paint to fill stone chips on my front bumper.

The area is large and spraying would be better than brushing. Maybe 3 coats, let dry for several days and wet sand with 1500 and finish with 2000/3000. Buff out.

If you have all those tools did you try simply compounding it yet? Hard to tell from one pic but it may simply be marking up the clear. Try some compound first and see if there is an improvement. I have burned paint before with my rotary and was able to fix it with some wet sanding. Obviously I did not burn all the way through the paint although it looked like I had initially. I Wet sanded and buffed and it came right out. I say give it a try before anything else.

Well I used a foamed pad with 2.5SSR on a makita and took a few passes with it.

It definitely improved it.

May take a few more once I detail my entire car next week.

Perhaps with just a wool pad.

I presently don`t have any more abrasive compound ATM than the 2.5



I`ll be sure to get rid of the micro scratches left from the pad that you may see in the photo. (naturally)



Great suggestion to try the compound first. I was anxious to let you know that it certainly helped. It`s still a work in progress as you can tell.
