I applied #40 to my dash today and found it to be quit glossy. I use a mf applicator. Did I do something wrong? I thought its suppose to be matte?

Did you wipe it down with a dry MF after application? It`s pretty matte looking after that.

I tried but it wont matte. It looks like it dries to a greasy gloss and streaked. I am not sure if I used too much or let it dwell too long..

I would expect that you are going to have to try to get some of the #40 off your dash and possibly start again. There`s definitely nothing wrong with #40 except that it can appear a little too oily. It has been around for tens of years and does a good job but it probably does take some getting used to. Also dashboards can be a real pain to dress evenly.

I would try to rub a very small amount of #40 into a clean dash surface hoping to reach an even finish. Usually I want something that has less shine and reach for 303 or Optimum Protectant Plus which I find easier to "buff" out to a matte finish.

#40 can be too oily for my taste as well.

Hmmm. I was a bit hard to work with since using little didnt seemed to be doing anything. I have a bottle of quik interior detailer (black bottle). You think this will help clear the gloss a bit?

Wouldn`t hurt to try using a mf and ID to buff it out. The #40 has different properties to the Interior Detailer so I would try one small area before trying the entire dash.

I spray onto the microfiber then wipe, never had any issues with it.

How many sprays you used to get half of the dash?

IMHO, Turtle Wax Ice Total Interior Care Spray, gives the best matte finish. Almost no shine, and very natural finish.

I spray one or two and that much covers as much of the dash as I can reach without changing positions. The M40 I have is the size that comes in its own a spray bottle.

Try a water damp MF and polish the dash.

You can dilute 40 with water, it will be more matte.

Just checking back. I let it sit over night and now the dash is nice. I guess I just used too much and it was having a hard to drying/penetrating. But now its turns out great. Thanks!
