Hello all,

I have a 1997 Ford Explorer that looks good from far away, but once you come up on the hood, opinions change.

The hood is driving me nuts, the only product I have used on it is Zaino PC with a Porter Cable. Polishing pad used on the PC is CCS Orange Cutting pad. I am in the process of picking up some Menzerna IP and FP.

What recommendations do you guys have on what products would get better results and techniques.

The Truck:

The Problem:

Any help is greatly appreciated and this site is amazing!

Has it been repainted? Looks like a bunch of tiny checking rather than Acid Rain. Paint looks really bumpy (not flat) and doesn`t resemble AR. Where else is this problem besides the hood?

That looks a little like Orange peel...

Hood is factory sprayed. The hood and roof are in the same condition. The paint is smooth to the touch also. I am now thinking its just really bad damnage to my clear.

Anyone else have any other suggestions?

You think IP will help lighten these blemishes some? I am not looking for perfection but I would like it to be less noticeable.
