Maybe not new to some of you guys - but lately rather than buying longer detailing brushes for wheels and tight spots I`ve been using shaving brushes - they are pretty inexpensive are boars or badgers hair and do a great job getting in tight spots and don`t scratch.

You can get them at a local pharmacy or grocery store some times - they are in the shaving section - they are originally used for people who shave using a shave bar to lather up and rub on the face before shaving (old school shavers).

Ususally about $5.00 locally for me.
