Get a bottle of Eagle One All Wheel and Tire Cleaner and scrub them, or use some APC mixed fairly strong.

Not any wheel cleaner, some acid cleaners don`t really work for grease. I mentioned the EO AWTC because it`s easy to get OTC and pretty cheap.

I`ve found Turtle Wax F21 cleaner (mild alkaline cleaner) does a very good job of cleaning the tires. I prefer an acidic cleaner for the wheel itself (Mother`s FX Wheel Cleaner. IMHO you get the best results with a two stage process. First Alkaline (to get rid of greasy/oil dirt) and then acidic (to drop inorganic dirt).

I use purple power engine cleaner and a scrub brush. It has always worked great without any adverse effects.

What is inorganic dirt? Dirt is usually defined as default organic as I heard it so I assume it is inorganic non-petroleum based stuff? Just curious. I know acids are used on chrome but no idea why.
