What psi out of a pressure washer is good for removing dirt and grime but still has a margin of safety with not being too powerful?

TIA

If you`re using it for detailing, you`re not looking for PSI, you`re looking for GPM. It`s much more important to have a higher gallons per minute than pressure. Our pressure washer is only 1500 psi, but almost 3.0 gallons per minute, and it works great.

I have a 2600 psi troybuilt w/a honda engine. It serves as a dual purpose between auto`s and the house. It comes with 4 nozzles(soaking, automobile/gentle, multi-purpose and heavy duty).

+1. GPM is where it`s at.
