I am sure you can use it but chrome finish is much harder than tradional body paint, so I`m not sure what the benefit would be.

i actually just used clay to clean the exhaust tip on a toyota FJ because i didnt have any steel wool and had no time to go and get any.
It actually worked very well. No scratches to the chrome at all.
Steel wool would have done a better job but the clay worked. So i would think it would be ok.
