Hi all,

I am looking to buy either a wax or a sealant for my ice silver metallic audi R8. What would you recommend? It`s silver so cannot expect that same result as with a dark color but just looking for the overall best final finish.

Many thanks :xyxthumbs

Sealant all the way. Synthetics give a really wet, glossy look which is exactly what you want for a silver finish.

A winning combo for me lately on silver has been Gloss It gloss finish sealant topped with Gloss It concourso gloss, IMO that will get silver as wet looking as can be!

How about the Zaino process? Would that be something to consider? I am looking for durability but also the best possible look.

I have found in my years that the best over-the-counter product for silver is Mother`s FX SynWax, and as for a more professional product I like Optimum`s Car Wax and Opti-Seal on silver. All 3 really do an outstanding job making the silver paint pop.

The only true and real way to make silver pop like crazy is some hardcore polishing.

I love Audi silver!

p.s. If you need some help let me know. I am in Wakefield.

I use TW Ice liquid/Lucas Slick Mist on my "Bright Silver" PT Cruiser, and have been most impressed with it.

On my Metallic Silver Lexus I used Wolfgang DGPS 3.0, it added a very nice glass like shine to it. I then topped it with P21S 100% which added depth and warmth to finish. I did not do any polishing, just a simple wash, clay, and paint cleanser before the DGPS and P21S.

Different silvers are *different* and what looks good on my Mazda looks terrible on my Audis (and my other silver vehicles often looked best in something else altogether).

Hovy- Cool car!

I`ve had maybe a dozen silver Audis (and countless other silver vehicles), and I`m kinda opinionated about what looks right/wrong on that paint. It`s subtly different from other silvers and can really be impressive with the right prep (same ol` same ol` it really *is* in the prep even with silver).

IMO the best look for Audi silver is UPP; with proper prep it makes the metallic just pop and sparkle in a way I can`t get with other LSPs I`ve tried. I wish it lasted longer, but it`s all I use on my S8 because it`s simply the *perfect* look IMO.

At the other end of the spectrum (*IMO*), KSG looks terrible on Audis, it`s about the only LSP I`ve stripped right off (even though I like it on other silvers). And BF sealant darkens the paint enough that it looks like another color code when parked beside an identical Audi.

476S was not a good choice...my wife spotted it right away on her car and I redid it soon thereafter :o

The #16 I now always use on my wife`s silver Audi looks good, so don`t discount waxes...it`s all eye-of-the-beholder stuff, and FWIW *she* prefers the look of Souveran on that particular paint.

I`m late to the party, but I love Opti-Seal on silver.

Z2 would also look great....I used Fuzion on a silver Series One Shelby, and the flake pop was incredible!
