1998 Mitsubishi Nativa oxidised

Well guys and gals, I finally landed the job I was referring with this thread I did a while back.

Now, the funny thing about this one is that when I start it, at the same time it started raining, and hasn’t stopped since. I’m talking about 10 straight days of nonstop rain. Now, onto the action…



1998 Mitsubishi Nativa(in the states known as Montero Sport) single stage paint with LOTS of oxidation, DIS and has never been polished, and the last time it was waxed, it was when it was first bought… 12 years ago! So, as stated on the thread above, I already had a nice plan of attack, but decided to change it completely, except for the wax. So, wih that being said, here’s how I tackled it:



-Wheels, tires and wells went with Dr. Mecanico APC full strength with a variety of brushes, including the all brand spanking new EZ Daytona Detail brush.

-Paint got ONR on 6oz/2 gal ratio with a HD grout sponge, and decided to do the claying at the time I washed the car

-Dried with a Chamois

-Heavy polish with M105 with the PC and orange pad to remove the oxidation and minimize scratches

-Refine with M205 with PC and white pad to achieve full paint clarity

-2 coats of OOS 12 hours apart with a red foam grip applicator

-Coat of Natty’s blue to give depth a whole new meaning

-Coat of OCWax to seal the shine

-Tires got Optimum Tire Spray applied with a blue dressing applicator from Detal Shoppe. Wheel wells got Hyper-dressing 3:1

-Windows done with PepBoys Glass Cleaner(a major hit, IMO. Really nice for the super cheap price)

-Interior vacuumed with Ridgid WD4050 and plastics cleaned with Meguiar’s Quick Interior detailer.

The tires seem to have some cheap brake pads because they throw out dust like there’s no tomorrow. Tough wheels to clean, BTW

Very nice turnaround. Do you get a lot of business there? I was thinking of opening a business in puerto rico in the Fajardo area where all of my family is. One thing I noticed is not many people wash there cars there so I am sure you could be very profitable if you can persuade them.

Since I am starting with the detail business, I am starting to get calls from neighbors and friends in order to detail their cars. I haven`t been able to take any after the Nativa because it hasn`t stopped raining since last week. The big problem down in PR is that there are a lot of "macetas" or cheapos that when you tell them that yopu charge $xx much for a car wash, they go and say "but xyz washes my car for less than you". To give you an example, I charge $20 for a wash and vac. Others charge $10, but not even close to an autopian standard. It`s going to be risky business, but never give up and do a lot of research and promotion around. That for sure will get your business in a nice strong foundation.

yeah man a lot of macetas indeed,i bet u can get good bussiness in the Isla Verde,Condado area.
