Been haveing trouble posting even with 10+ posts. Seems like it had something to do with the thread title. Anways, this is my first correction on my `05 Obsidian Black Pearl STi

I did this in the begining of March. Just joined the site and wanted to post this. If anyone is a member over on IWSTI you probably seen it.

Bought the car last July with close to 38k on it. Paint was pretty rough, being black it looked even worse. By the time I got done taking care of some other stuff on the car it was winter, so I waited until the weather broke to take care of the paint.

I used a PC with Menzerna Super Intensive Polish on a Detailers Doamain Green pad, really bad spots I used an Orange pad, Followed up with PO85RD on a blue pad. Topped off with Einszett Glanz.

First up I cleaned the engine with some Adam`s APC. Dressed with Adam`s VRT and some Einszett Vinyl/Rubber Protectant.

Only clay pics that came out well. The real bad one was what it looked after each door. The other one was what it looked like on most other panels.

I`ve always been a detail freak but this car sent me over the edge. Started lurking on here and reading up a lot and dove in head first. I`m pumped with how it turned out.

Looking forward to any thoughts/advice. :buffing:

Nice Job! What kind of foam gun do you have?

Thanks. It`s the Camspray foam gun, use it on my pressure washer.

Outstanding Job! Why do you use a foam gun does it clean better?

Very nice. Maybe something to think about next time is to throw in 106 in between your SIP and 85RD. Regardless...awesome car. How much HP you pushing?

Thanks for all the comments!

Right now the car is "stage 2". With the reflash and turbo-back exhaust it`s suppose to be ~359hp and ~385lb.-ft at the crank. Not a lot by many WRX guys but plenty to make me happy.

I figure the more I can do to lessen the chance that I get swirls on the black the better. The foam is suppose to help loosen dirt and what not, before hand washing. I can say it makes washing the car much easier. The other day, I knew it was going to rain but, my car was pretty dirty. I rinsed it, sprayed some foam on, and rinsed after a few minutes. It almost looked as good as if I had really washed it. Right now I`m using Adam`s Car Wash, mega foam and it smells good too.

wow that car is dripping!! straight eye candy

Did you do any IPA wipedowns between polishing and waxing?

Yeah I did a few here and there as I went, to make sure what I did was working (was my first correction). I think my IPA mixture was a little off actually. It seemed to want to dry up as soon as I took one swipe with a towel. If that makes any sense. I might invest in some "pre-made" IPA type stuff, maybe Top Inspection.

That`s a great job on the car. Your pics doesn`t do your work justice! A tripod will help a lot.

LOL. That`s whatever was left over from the previous owner and winter. If you think that was bad, here`s a pic of some clay after doing the passenger side of my mother-in-laws car....

Ah and my wheels are just Rotas. The previous owner really borked up the stock BBS wheels and the tires were shot. A guy was selling the Rotas with brand new tires for cheap so I bought them. I`m eventually getting Works or Advans.
