At last I had enough free time to take care of my E60 again!

I`ve ordered lots of new detailing stuff and I`ve been very anxious to use them on my sapphire black 530d. The weather starts to be warmer and warmer and you can see and hear the snow melting. That`s why it`s dirty everywhere, and my car really needed a good wash. I didn`t satisfy to only wash the car, but gave it a full detail for the summer!

I did a paint correction at last September, and only a light polish was needed now. However, I managed to spend a full day with the job (12h)!

The process was:

1) Pre-wash

- Turtle Wax Super Solvent Wash Spray

- Bilt-Hamber Autofoam

2) Wash

- Turtle Wax Big Orange

3) Claying

- Zaino Z-18 clay

- Turtle Wax Big Orange as lubricant

4) Polish

- Presta Chroma 1500 Polish + Lake Country CCA White pad

- Presta Chroma Swirl Remover + Lake Country CCA Blue pad

- Presta Spray`N Shine as moisturizer

- Flex XC 3401 VRG

5) Wax

- Clearkote Red Moose Machine Glaze

- Collinite 915

- Mother`s Reflections Top Coat

6) Tires

- AutoGlym Instant Tyre Dressing

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Lots of pictures were taken, and I tried to eliminate as much as possible, but still ended up to approximately 50 pictures to share with the forum...

Sorry about the ghettoish washing hall, but I`m lucky I can use it. Washing during winter would almost be impossible without it!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

1) Pre-wash

- My trusted Kärcher K4.97M

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr53/Anzafin/Detailing/Detail04.jpg

- I started with the Turtle Wax Super Solvent Wash Spray

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr53/Anzafin/Detailing/Detail05.jpg

- You can see how it strips the previous wax layers

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr53/Anzafin/Detailing/Detail06.jpg

- Then after rinse followed the Autofoam

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr53/Anzafin/Detailing/Detail12.jpg

-----------------------------------------------------------------

2) Wash

- Two bucket method with a grit guard rules :thumb:

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr53/Anzafin/Detailing/Detail13.jpg

- I foamed the car with the Turtle Wax Big Orange too to have some more lubrication

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr53/Anzafin/Detailing/Detail14.jpg

- Mother`s sheepskin mitt

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr53/Anzafin/Detailing/Detail15.jpg

-----------------------------------------------------------------

3) Claying

- I use Zaino Z-18

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr53/Anzafin/Detailing/Detail16.jpg

- The Turtle Wax Super Solvent Wash Spray did a great work --> I got absolutely nothing into clay!

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr53/Anzafin/Detailing/Detail17.jpg

- After the rinse I dried the panels with Chemical Guys Ultra Plush Miracle Dryer - Great towel!

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr53/Anzafin/Detailing/Detail18.jpg

- Letting everything dry

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr53/Anzafin/Detailing/Detail19.jpg

-----------------------------------------------------------------

4) Polish

- Before polishing I wanted to measure the paint thickness using my new Paint Detective 8 ptg

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr53/Anzafin/Detailing/Detail20.jpg

- I got great results and felt safe to go

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr53/Anzafin/Detailing/Detail21.jpg

- Some minor swirls after the winter. I had some difficulties to get decent pics on them.

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr53/Anzafin/Detailing/Detail23.jpg

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr53/Anzafin/Detailing/Detail24.jpg

- Some taping for protection

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr53/Anzafin/Detailing/Detail25.jpg

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr53/Anzafin/Detailing/Detail27.jpg

- I only needed the Chroma 1500 Polish and Chroma Swirl Remover, which are the least agressive products in Presta Buffing System

Detailed for the summer? The car still has studded snow tires on. Nice work, car looks great. Love the Collinite.

Sure it will be washed several times before the summer, I primarily meant the polishing part. ;)

LOL...if you look at the OP`s "work" attire and that tracked vehicle in the background in a couple of shots and put two and two together I think you will get it.

I already have the KW Street Comfort coilover set and I`m happy with the ride height. As you can guess there are times in a year when I need some clearance and I don`t have the interest to go up and down every 6 months followed by the all wheel alignment work :grinno:.
