Purchased a 2-3/4 Hook and Loop Backing Plate as well as some 4" Spot Buff pads. Did I purchase the wrong plate?

Yeah, that`s a bit small for those pads. On this page, Rotary Flexible Backing Plate, lake country rotary backing plates, makita 9227 backing plate, dewalt 849 backing plate, circular backing plate (http://www.autogeek.net/lc43175.html) look at part number LC-43-095 3 ¾ inch Rotary Backing Plate that`s the one I use for four inch pads on a rotary.

mrmatt- the plate you pictured is for a rotary, not a PC 7424.

While 2.75" plates are handy for use with 3.5" LC PFW pads, they *are* a bit small for 4" pads and can lead to the "cookie-cutter" effect where the plate chews up the pad from the back.

I just got my shipment of the exact same setup last night. Mine has the DA adapter. I used it last night with the white and gray pads. It worked pretty well except it did seem the pad was a little large for the backing plate. A couple of times the pad actually came off when I was using a lot of force on it. Also, I noticed the pad would shift from off-center as the velcro does not seem as strong. Now that I see that that there is a 3.5" backing plate that does not require a DA adapter I may have to get that. I told the vendor I was looking for something I could occasionally use with a drill too so maybe that is why it came that way.

Yeah it was my mistake when ordering. I will have to see if I can exchange it for the correct one on Monday. Don`t want my pads getting chewed up :(
