Hey everyone,

I am an amateur, newbie detailing affectionado. I`ve tried removing some swirl marks by hand with some Meguirs speed polish, btu it didn`t work. So I am planning on having a local detailer remove the swirls and I will then attempt to maintain the glaze/sealant by hand (any comments on this approach?)

Anyways... my main question:

I was with ONR (Optimum No Rinse) exclusively in the summer and use a self serve spray wand in the winter (don`t know of a better option to get the salt off the car that wont hurt it).

I use the two bucket method, but I am unsure of what media to use to wash the car. I have been using a Dehydrator towel to wash the car, and a dry one to ... dry it. - Link to the Towel (http://www.eshine.ca/bogo_the_dehydrator_drying_towel-189.php).

Is there a better towel I shoudl be using? I think I`ve read that a very thick spunge or super thick MF towel is better - Is this true?

Thanks for answering a noob`s questions :woot:

Just use a good microfiber wash mitt any reputable one will be fine I think.

You could use that towel...I think you`d be better off using a few of these: eShine Canada: BOGO The El Cheapo Microfiber Buffing Towel (http://www.eshine.ca/bogo_the_el_cheapo_microfiber_buffing_towel-452.php) or the more expensive towels if you can justify it.

Make sure you find a reputable detailer or you may wind up with more defects than you started with. I think ScubaStevo is in your area and of course CalgaryDetail.

I use a Pro Line Grout Sponge with ONR or a Shag Rag from theragshack and dry with the Superfly and Amazing Dryer

I use microfiber covered foam pads and dry with 530 gram 16 x 16 MF towels I get from my local Optimum Distributor.

Probably very similar to this towel, except the ones I have are blue.

I personally use the Eurow brand shag style mf towels. though I`ve found I don`t like the shag-style towels as much when it comes to buffing off wax, sealant, or polish, they`re perfect for ONR washes, quick detailing, or drying. lots of other brands now have their own shag (non-looped) style towels, and I`d recommend them for this use especially.

I use my GS from Lowes. I have 3 of them, but I`m still using my GS since Feb 2008. As a matter of fact I use the same GS for reg car washes, and ONR washes.

To dry I use 1 MF WW towel, and spitz some QD with a Viking MF.

I`ve had the best luck with these MF mitts Micro Fiber Mitts | Microfiber (http://www.neatitems.com/microfiber_mitts.htm)

The pile is deep enough to keep grit away from the surface, but rinses out easily. It is also much easier to control the amount of ONR solution you use--I found that Sheep Skin and the dreadlock style waste too much of the ONR. First pass dry with a WW MF and then follow up with a deep pile MF.

I use a Chinelle Schmitt all the time with ONR! It`s a must have when washing a vehicle!

Picking up those El Cheapo`s from eshine tomrorow actually, just have to finish up my order.

You being in Canada, I highly recommend eshine.ca if you`re planning on ordering. NO CUSTOMS!

Also, I will be trying ONR for the first time once this order comes in so glad those towels seem to be a decent option with it.

I`ve never tried a WW with QEW. I might have to try that. I always use some gray Vroom towels that are constantly cleaned in the QEW solution.
