This fall it really rained a lot here in Norway. After the car had been sitting in my driveway being rained on constantly for a month I decided that it was time to give it some protection on the first day without rain. Since I do not have a garage, it was cold and the outlook for rain was pretty dim I washed the car and used Turtle Wax`s Wax it Wet on it while wet. When I started drying the car I noticed a lot of white spots on/in the paint. It seemed like the wax it wet was causing this, but I can`t tell for sure. Coupe of more days in the rain and I got to borrow a garage where the car has spent the winter.

I just went and collected it, and after washing the car tried to get the spots out using my Flex DA with the light blue 3M polish. No help. There is a LOT of spots and they look like they are in the actual clear coat. Like the clear coat has lifted causing bubbles. There are a lot of spots that have not turned white as well. WHAT HAS HAPPENED? Is my paint ruined? I have always tried to take good care of my dear Boxster. :aww:

An update. I tried distilled vinegar, and it does remove some of the spots. But there are a lot more spots (bumps) than just the white ones, and also once I clean out a white spot I can still see the bump (not dimple). Looks like the clear has lifted.

I`m guessing sap or fallout.

Did you try clay?

Yes. I have tried clay, citrus cleaner, autoglym super resin polish, autoglym paint renovator and 3M Perfect It III Machine Polish (just for 2 min on a DA).

Vinegar did remove a few of the spots, but I`m 90% sure they came back. I might have been wrong about this being bumps, they might be dimples.. it`s hard to tell.

Appreciate any input.

On the second pic, there seems to be a dirt/dust nib (top right corner) which

could mean a repaint. If so, then those little craters are likely solvent pop which

likely means not enough flashtime between coats during the painting process.

looks like fish eyes but they usually appear almost instanly, can`t thing of why they would show up after all this time.

The "dirt/dust" nib is touchup paint carelessly overused by previous owner.

This is not fish eyes/solvent pop. They are white spots.

Had a detailer look at it but he came back and said the paint was damaged and I need a respray. :(
