Newbie - why is this panel different shades?

Hello,



I`m new to this stuff and looking into mild restoration on my Mercedes. I posted this on a Mercedes board and they sent me this way. I`m in the UK but find the US boards pretty friendly ;). Anyway I have been over the car with a very fine buffer/abrasive combination and it has come up good on some panels. But have a big issue with one door in the pic below.

Hopefully you can see the issue, it`s the rear door, the whole centre of it looks as if it is a different paint quality. Is it hazy? Glossy? Greasy?? I don`t know! Up close it doesn`t show up, it`s only from far back at certain angles..



The ultrafine restorer and buffer did not make a difference to it. What can I do? A more abrasive and hope to cut through it?

Any other tips on the car welcome - I haven`t really touched the surface compared to a proper detailing but it is difficult to know where to begin.
