This has probably been addressed here, but I can`t find it (please point out where if you know). I have a light gray/silver Scion XD just over a year old and some guy washing detailing cars in a parking lot offered a wash & wax, so I, like a dummy, said sure. He left it out in the parking lot and disappeared while I shopped.

The problem is it looks like he used a nylon scour pad on several places on the car (engine hood & front bumper mostly). I tried taking the car to a local car wash business but the marks are still there. I`m very much a noob with this whole detailing business, but is there some way of undoing this? Can I get a detailing business to get rid of the marks without stripping the original clear coat (or worse, stripping the original paint)?

Thank you very much for any help.

They are likely scratching/marring in your clearcoat. Its possible to remove the marks.

Post your location or go to the regional forums and find a local autopian to assess the damage and proceed from there.

Do you have some pictures that you can post to let us see what damage was done. I agree, that most likely it could be remedied, however, without seeing it in person, it would be premature to make a determination of that...pics would help somewhat.

Is this something a noob can undo, or should I be looking for a detailing place to correct this, and what should I look out for (don`t want to happen)?

Thank you for any help.

Photos are coming. I guess they are stuck in moderation (totally understandable, spam filter).
